A világjárvány második hulláma előtt pici betekintést kaphattam az "északi nyárba", ami kellemes volt - a járvány megélésének élményéről egy picit később írok még. Tranbjergben - ez egy kisebb város Aarhustól délre - önkénteskedtem, egy idősek otthonában. Az első időszakban az összesen három különálló ház mind a hat konyháján segítettem be, számomra azért volt nehéz, mert mind a hat konyhán máshol tartották a dolgokat és sokszor belegabalyodtam, hogy mit hol találok. Szerencsére a kollégák nagyon segítőkészek és türelmesek voltak velem.

November 2020. My project was starting to get interesting. I already knew a few people and it was quiet enough in the office, so I could focus on organising stuff for the volunteers. An Italian girl, along with a couple ICYE volunteers and I came up with the idea of an Italian cuisine workshop. We would elaborate several dishes and the organisers would judge the result. Everything was running smoothly until one of the participants got a call: his host dad had COVID.

Jaime is volunteering at Vandel Efterskole 2020/2021, but due to the lockdown procedures in Denmark to contain the coronavirus, Vandel Efterskole shifted to online lessons for their students after New Year's. Jaime went home for his Christmas break and is still in Spain by February 2021. He made this video to keep in touch with the students at the Efterskole, so they can see what he gets up to while in Spain. After returning to Denmark for the spring of 2021 Jaime made a cook book.

My host family came to Fjord&Bælt to assist to the animals training. It’s a little bit different when someone you know is watching you, but it went good anyway ! Most of the time when guests are coming, the trainers are making a presentation of the centre and the research they do with the animals. The presentation is in danish but guests can ask for an english version! Everybody is welcome to ask any questions after the feeding session.

10 Monate Dänemark! Ein Traum ging für mich in Erfüllung. Am 1. September flog ich von München direkt nach Aarhus. Angekommen in einer unbekannten Stadt, wurde ich schon von meinen Nachbarn (ebenfalls Freiwillige) und meiner Mitbewohnerin herzlich empfangen. Aufgrund von Covid-19 bin ich schon am 13. März zurück nach Vorarlberg geflogen, um von zu Hause aus zu arbeiten. Doch was geschah in der Zwischenzeit? Ich erzähle von meinen tollsten Erlebnissen als ESK-Freiwillige in Dänemark und den größten Hürden in dieser Zeit.

I am volunteering in a forest kindergarten called Kalø Skovbørnehave. It has a quite unusual concept as a kindergarten which can be found only in Denmark.

This kindergarten is very special. I met the most amazing people and as soon as the kids got used to you (and you to them) they were so cute and you don’t want to leave. Each day they happily greeted me when I was coming thru the front door and it was the most heartwarming thing I had ever experienced. Was ist eine Efterskole? Efterskole heißt grob übersetzt Nachschule. Um das zu verstehen muss man das dänische Schulsystem etwas kennen. Die Dänen gehen nämlich alle neun Jahre lang auf eine Schule, die wir als Grundschule bezeichnen würden. Hier machen sie dann einen Abschluss, ungefähr zu vergleichen mit unserem Hauptschulabschluss.

I’m a volunteer in Bustrup Hovedgaard in Midtjylland, Denmark. Bustrup is a school and care home for teenagers with various difficult backgrounds. All of them had a challenging past, each of them a different story. I came here to have a positive impact on them. When I found out that neither the school nor the care home separates waste properly, I was quite shocked. Everyone should know by now that our planet is in a major crisis. For me was sure that that had to be changed. Our planet is burning and we need action now. Even if it’s only a temporary solution and the system of the commune will be installed in the couple ofyears. We need to start now! This is how I got the idea to start by myself.
